It's been unusually mild up here in the Lake District this Winter and the usual chill and frost we got last December and January seems to have disappeared. There are even some daisies blooming in the garden! One thing that has been constant, however, is the rain.
I do find the rain comforting when it patters down on window panes, but I am longing for some sunshine too. As soon as Christmas is over I am itching for the warmth, light breezes and the awakening of Springtime - it's my favourite season and I can't wait until the hedgerows are alive with colour again.
That's not to say that Winter doesn't have it's own beauty - these little patterns left on Mum's car after one of the showers intrigued me greatly.
And just when you think you'll never see the sun again, it magically re-appears and so do the birds! The little black outlines in the first photo are lots of seagulls and crows wheeling and diving through the clouds - I even believe some of the starlings joined in too!
Going back in time a tiny bit, these were the skies on Christmas Eve - a good sign for the New Year, surely? I love the different colours and birds flying overhead.
I'm linking up with Jen from Pierced Wonderings for Photo Friday.
Hope you've all had a lovely week!
